Sfaxien Squeeze Through

Holders CS Sfaxien squeezed through into the third round of the African Confederation Cup on Friday after a 1-1 draw away at JSM Bejaia in Bejaia, Algeria.

The second round, second leg result saw Sfaxien win the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Sfaxien conceded an early goal to the home team’s Braham Chaouch after only three minutes but leveled midway through the first half from Younis Sellimi.

Their Tunisian compatriots Esperance also advanced after a 2-0 home win over Rachad Bernoussi, the Moroccan second division side, on Friday.

The victory at Rades, with first half goals from Kamel Zaiem and Saber Khalifa, allowed Esperance to win the tie on the away goals rule after an embarrassing 3-1 defeat away in the first leg a fortnight ago.
