Heartland Thump Pillars

October 4, 2009

Nigerian side Heartland have one foot in the African Champions League Final after a thumping 4-0 win over compatriots Kano Pillars in Owerri on Sunday.

It was expected to be a tight affair between the two sides who looked evenly matches, but Heartland were amazingly 4-0 up by halftime.

Emeka Nwana opened the scoring just on the 15 minute mark, before Uche Agba added a second four minutes later.

The pair each scored a further goal in the first 45 minutes to give their side a near unassailable lead in the tie.

They failed to drive the final nail in the coffin in the second half, and with Pillars offering nothing going forward, there were no more goals in the match.

Pillars will have it all to do in the return fixture on October 10 for the right to meet either Sudanese side Al Hilal or TP Mazembe from DR Congo in the final.
